Voidy
The Void and Hatchway
safety platform

The problem

Open hatchways present an everyday risk of a fall - often with severe consequences.  If the hatch is closed or otherwise covered when work is taking place, there is the risk of a lone worker being out of sight, and out of mind; communication may be difficult.

In some instances, work is required above the hatch and a temporary work platform is needed.  However, access will also needed and the platform must not block this access.

The solution

Use the Voidy - a safety deck for hatches and voids.  This simple device folds up to be inserted through a hatch. It is then spread out to cover the hatchway and become a safe working platform or deck. An operative does not have to be anxious about stepping back by accident and then falling down the hatchway.

A fixing plate is provided for it to be attached by screws to the edging of the hatch so that it remains in place and does not skid sideways when stood on.  It then hinges up to allow full access for operatives or materials.
